One of the many things that I discovered here in the land of Uncle Sam that I didn’t see in my home country is the use of those digital baby monitors. Our neighbor got one and I had to ask her what it was because I was really clueless.
My son was sleeping with me from the time he was born, as did my nephews and nieces with their parents. They slept with their parents until they were old enough to sleep on their own, like around 7 years old. It might be surprising for some, but it is one common thing in my home country. I should say, it’s in our culture and though some of my countrymen have been influenced by other country’s culture, still, it is practiced by many.
My yesterday was spent babysitting my 6-month-old niece, Summer. My brother, sister-in-law and mom went out to distribute the invitations for the upcoming wedding on November 18 and they were out the whole day. They are not done yet because there were about a hundred invites that they were going to deliver to each guest’s house. They will continue the adventure today which means my day will be spent babysitting Summer again. No biggy, though. She was a good girl yesterday and I know she will be again today like she always has been.
She didn’t even move a bit while I was putting my empty glass in the kitchen sink. I was holding her in my right hand and the glass in the left hand. Had she moved, I would have thrown the glass so I could hang onto her. Just try to imagine have difficult it was. But I was so thirsty that nothing could stop me from doing the unthinkable. LOL. Sounds like an action movie eh?
My brother and SIL’s pre-cana seminar started today and will end tomorrow. No one’s going to look after their baby, my niece so I am tasked to do the babysitting for two days. No problem. I missed taking care of babies and I actually have this feeling that I don’t know how to do it anymore. Hehe.
Anyway, my 4-month-old niece was such a good girl today. She didn’t throw any tantrums at all. She just cried when she’s hungry and laughed a lot now too. Today was the first day that we heard her chuckle actually. That was really cute!
She will be back here tomorrow and I hope she will be a good girl again like today. See you tomorrow, Sum! Mwah!
My afternoon yesterday was spent babysitting our newest baby, my niece, Summer. My bro’ and sister-in-law paid us a visit but it wasn’t initially in their plans to leave Summer with us. But since they were going to go for groceries, mom insisted that they leave the little one since we hadn’t seen her for a while. She’s two months old and has already grown so much. She’s getting heavy and my arm muscles were actually sore when I woke up this morning. Maybe it was because of carrying Summer too much. She didn’t want to be put on the bed so I had no choice but to carry her and hold her most of the day.
Thinking about that made me realize that the best thing to do is to buy her a Bob revolution stroller. She needs it now more than anything else because she’s getting heavier by the day and it would be nice to stroll Summer outside without the burden of just carrying her. I know it’s not Christmas yet, nor her baptism, but what the heck! I’ll get my niece one. She’d love the ride for sure, and my arms would love it too.(“,)
Our newest bundle of joy, Summer, my brother’s daughter, will already turn a month old on Saturday, June 5th. My brother and his wife are thinking of having a little get-together to celebrate it. Just what I like because for certain, there will be delicious foods to feast on. Hehe.
Anyway, though their daughter is only turning a month old, they are already thinking of having another baby. I was like, “Really?” But their reason is understandable seeing that they’re not getting any younger, so why wait? I even kidded my sister-in-law that I will help her by reading a best prenatal vitamin review so she’ll know what to take this time since she’s obviously not going to get any younger. She laughed because she knew I was just kidding her about her age.
Thinking about them having another baby makes us excited. A baby always brings joy to the family.
